Deep in Wintertime

Winter’s mist, rolling in off the hills.
It creeps up and pounces,
Rolls along the ground.
It’s silent and deadly,
Comes and goes unseen,
Because winter’s mist, always has the mist to hide in.

The dog, asleep by the fire.
It twitches and whimpers,
Locked up in a dream.
It’s cute and funny,
No more fire to tend,
Because the dog, always wakes at fire’s end.

First snowflake, drifting down from the clouds.
It sparkles and glitters,
Flutters to the ground.
It’s simple and striking,
Drawing out huge crowds,
Because the first snowflake, always astounds.
